Sports Coaching and Leadership Opportunities

Access development programmes, volunteering opportunities, and bursaries with our brand-new sports coaching and leadership opportunities.

Research has shown that employers identify a clear link between involvement in university sport and the skills that are of the highest value to their organisations.

Students involved in our leadership programmes should expect to develop their communication, planning, and organisation skills, all of which will help them in their future careers, whichever path they choose to follow.

Sports Coaching Bursary

Starting in 2024/25, the CSE’s Sports Coaching Bursary supports HKU students to gain recognised coaching qualifications and real-world experience. Successful applicants receive funding towards a coaching course and complete voluntary coaching hours within an HKU sports programme.

Funding: Apply for up to HK$5,000 towards an approved coaching qualification.
Eligibility: Open to current HKU students with an interest in sports coaching.
Experience: Complete voluntary hours in a relevant HKU programme to apply your learning in practice.

Sports Volunteering Placements

The CSE is delighted to launch a new sports volunteering scheme that provides opportunities for students to gain real-world work experience within a university sports environment.

Opportunities are open to all students currently studying at HKU, and can be flexible around students’ interests. Our team will work with all interested students to try to create a placement that matches the areas that students would like to work in. The areas we can offer to provide student placements in includes:
